Jennifer Grey seems to be an early favorite from the 12 celebrities on this season’s “Dancing with the Stars.” She’s been shy about admitting she’s had dance lessons, enough to get her cast in “Dirty Dancing.”
Although during the filming of “Dirty Dancing,” the relationship between Patrick Swayze and Grey weren’t particularly friendly according to various sources, Grey reported to Ryan Seacrest she had the support of Patrick Swayze’s widow, Lisa Niemi. Swayze died from cancer a year ago (14 September 2009) and had been an early supporter of “Dancing with the Stars.”
The online betting sites (Casino Reports and Gambling911) seem to think she’s the one to beat, but just what has Grey done lately to win her fans?

Bodog sportsbook considered Brandy as the favorite at 3/1 with Jennifer Grey at 7/2 and Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino and Karina Smirnoff (7/1). Audrina Patridge is at 8/1.
What the websites agree on are the longshot: Florence Henderson. Aren’t there enough fans of the original Brady Bunch to give Henderson a chance?
While last season, Nicole Scherzinger or Evan Lysacek were favored to win (some Websites favored Lysacek and Erin Andrews with Chad Ochocinco third and Scherzinger in fourth), season 9 was less predictable.
Remember during season 9, the favorites were Mya and Aaron Carter. Carter didn’t get enough fan votes to keep his great dance moves alive on the dance floor.
Grey has appeared on “The New Adventures of Old Christine” (2009) and provided voices for the TV servies “Pheneas and Ferb” (2009-2008) for three episodes. Is that enough to build a fan base?
The other favorite, Brandy, had her own series and even appeared on “Sabrina, the Teenage Witch” which starred Melissa Joan Hart. That time, Brandy, was an uncredited mystery caller (she also had similar roles in “Raising Dad” and “Reba.”) In the 2006 TV series “One on One” she appeared on four episodes.
More importantly, Brandy was the star of the TV series “Moesha” from 1996-2001.
So while Grey looked impressive in the rehearsal video, will she have the kind of fan base it takes to win “Dancing with the Stars” or will Brandy follow Scherzinger and make it another singer to win? They both have to compete with the impressive fan base football players seem to bring to every season of DWTS, no matter how good or bad the actual dancing it.
