On tonight’s Castle, a beautiful doctor from County Hospital was found murdered and in a casket with another deceased man at his own funeral. When the pallbearers for the deceased man went to put the casket into interment, the men couldn’t hold it and dropped the casket revealing another occupant: Dr. Lisa Monroe. Dr. Parish was unable to determine cause of death at the scene, but time of death was around 7 to 9 pm.
Beckett and Castle went to County Hospital to find out more about Dr. Monroe and talked to someone that informed them about a little fight between her and Nurse McClintock. Of course, Castle thinks it’s a love triangle involving two hot women and another doctor until he realizes that Nurse McClintock is actually a man. Once Beckett and Castle start talking with him, Castle sees a trend with McClintock and compares it to Grey’s Anatomy. Ryan went digging and found out about all the doctors and McClintock has friendships with. There was apparently nothing sexual with their relationships because he has a girlfriend. What McClintock told Beckett and Castle is that he walked Dr. Monroe to the ambulance bay and her friend was there waiting to speak with her. A photograph confirmed his story as Dr. Monroe was seen with a mystery man.
Esposito went to a little coffee shop that Dr. Monroe went to everyday which was no where near her place of employment nor residence so why would she go there? Turned out that she had a side job taking care of an ex-drug cartel by the name of Cesar Calderon (A Martinez). He had informed Beckett and Castle that before Dr. Monroe had saved his life, he was solely dependent on his brother, Manuel. Fortunate for Beckett and Castle, it was Manuel who told them where to find Dr. Monroe’s mystery man. When Beckett and Castle went to “Amelia’s Cafe” the man wasn’t there yet, but when he did show up, come to find out, he works for the Attorney General. Leonard Maloney told Beckett and Castle that Dr. Monroe was working undercover for the Attorney General’s office looking into fraud with County Hospital. At first, Beckett and Castle assumed it was Calderon that the Attorney General was investigating but since he was out of the game for so long, they weren’t interested in him.
In the end, it was Cesar’s brother Manuel who in fact killed the doctor because he thought she was helping the Attorney General’s office investigate Cesar. Cesar had informed Beckett and Castle that he had cared for Dr. Monroe more than friends. Beckett and Castle put together that Manuel had to necessary skills to inject the doctor with air into her vain which killed her.
