An announcement was made yesterday on a new handheld gaming device made by none other than Panasonic.
The last foray into the gaming market for Panasonic was the overpriced and overhyped 3DO system made in 1993. This time their focus is on the handheld market with the Jungle. Few details are revealed at this time but it is made clear by the company that the device will focus on MMO (massive multiplayer online) and other online games on the go. Games will be played under the Panasonic Cloud Entertainment (PCENT) name.
The Jungle comes equipped with a QWERTY keypad, a directional pad, shoulder buttons, and a touchpad. No price has been mentioned yet although rumors say it could be in the $400 range. Speculation on the device running Linux and needing a 3G plan is also floating around.
