The thrifty fashion shopper is constantly thinking outside the box. She is always planning. Her mind is not thinking about the new top that she will wear to the movies tomorrow evening; she is thinking ahead and considering all the possibilities. She is looking for thrift shop treasures that will work in the present and be worn tomorrow or next weekend, but she is also thinking about holiday giving (only a little over two months away now), things that other members of her family might use, apparel that might be consigned to earn a bit more money, and fashions she can put away for next spring to be as good as new.
The double strand necklace is fashioned of blue, navy and turquoise beads and is approximately 24 inches long. The beads are separates intermittently with round gold beads to add a touch of dazzle. This is a very “in” style and the weight is midway between extremely delicate and chunky. It is versatile and can be worn with sweaters, sweater sets, blouses and tees.
The peep toe sling back white sandals by Newport News have a distinctive crossover deign, an adjustable strap for fit and comfort and a very low heel (almost flats). They are in new condition with absolutely no sign of wear. If you look closely at the photo, you can see that the bottoms of the shoes have no marks or wear and that the writing if still clearly imprinted. Thinking head, the thrifty shopper will have new white sandals stashed away for next summer.
The white V-neck tee shirt of Columbia still has the store tags attached from Marshall’s with a retail price of $25.00. Everyone can use a white tee, and they are probably one of the most versatile pieces in every women’s wardrobe. They can be casual or dressy, worn alone or layered, dressed up or dressed down, and worn to virtually every occasion from the soccer field to the office job. Once again thinking ahead, the thrifty shopper purchased this one to save for a holiday gift for someone she knows it will fit perfectly.
J.Jill lightweight denim capris feature a classic button zip front and red stitching. They have side slash pockets and an expandable back pocket with a button that adds both style and utility. The denim is lightweight, so it is soft and comfortable and perfect for warmer weather. The hot afternoons we have been having are perfect for capris and, as the thrifty shopper thinks ahead, they will be a new wardrobe addition for next spring.
A Route 66 dark slate blue microribbed cotton tee was found with the tags still attached. It has never been worn and the silver stud detailing around the neckline and sleeves adds a chic touch of style. Again, this is a year-round favorite, versatile, comfortable, perfect for layering, and a statement design with a hint of silver.
Finally, Gloria Vanderbilt fine wale black corduroy slacks are the find of the week for early fall weather. They are done in classic straight leg styling with a button zip front and are lightweight and soft (not still as some cords can be). The dark color and slightly warmer fabric make them ideal for fall and winter wear. They are easy to add a belt, dress up or down, wear anywhere, and use for work. The classic detailing never goes out of style and they should have several years of wear.
