The week ahead in crime TV (9/20/10 – 9/26/10)

This is it.  The week we’ve all been looking forward to since last May.  Premiere week.  Set your DVRs, save the networks’ websites in your bookmarks, and prepare for all-new episodes.

Monday

Chuck (NBC, 8pm) – SEASON PREMIERE! Chuck engages in a sweeping quest to find his mother, all while keeping the rogue mission a secret from his sister.  Meanwhile, Sarah and Casey journey to Russia to probe a mysterious organization and its operative; and Ellie breaks big news to the family.  Guest starring Linda Hamilton, Dolph Lundgren, Olivia Munn, and Harry Dean.

Hawaii Five-O (CBS, 10pm) – SERIES PREMIERE! An elite task force probes high-level crimes in this reboot of the classic series.  In the opener, decorated naval officer Steve McGarrett (Alex O’Loughlin) investigates his father’s murder and is persuaded by the governor to head up a new police squad that answers directly to her.

Chase (NBC, 10pm) – SERIES PREMIERE! Action-adventure series about a team of U.S. Marshals tracking down fugitive criminals in the American Southwest kicks off with a case about a prison escapee who just committed a double homicide during a home invasion after being on the run for five years.  Meanwhile, the task force welcomes a new member to the team.

Castle (ABC, 10pm) – SEASON PREMIERE! Beckett finds Castle at a murder scene holding a gun and is forced to arrest him despite his claims of innocence.

Tuesday

NCIS (CBS, 8pm) – SEASON PREMIERE! The Reynosa cartel tries to hurt Gibbs by going after those he loves, and Gibbs must take extreme steps to protect them from harm.

NCIS: Los Angeles (CBS, 9pm) – SEASON PREMIERE! An agent vanishes while on assignment, and the team, along with new liaison Marty Deeks, works with the LAPD in a case involving human trafficking in order to find the agent.

NCIS: Los Angeles (CBS, 10pm) – NEW! An agent is killed by a secret hit squad, and the team works quickly before another agent is murdered.

Detroit 1-8-7 (ABC, 10pm) – SERIES PREMIERE! The drama about Detroit homicide detectives opens with the veteran Fitch (Michael Imperioli) and his new partner Washington (Jon Michael Hill) investigating a double homicide at a pharmacy.  Meanwhile, an attorney’s murder is probed by impending retiree Longford (James McDaniel) and Mahajan (Shaun Majumder), the Americanized son of Indian immigrants.

Wednesday

Undercovers (NBC, 8pm) – SERIES PREMIERE! Married former spies Steven and Samantha Bloom (Boris Kodjoe and Gugu Mbatha-Raw) reenter the world of espionage to track down a friend and fell agent (Carter MacIntyre), who disappeared while on the trail of an arms dealer.  The pair find that their globe-spanning mission reignites their passion for the job and for each other.

Criminal Minds (CBS, 9pm) – SEASON PREMIERE! The sixth-season opener concludes the team’s search for the serial killer who is terrorizing Los Angeles and who now has Los Angeles detective Spicer’s daughter as his hostage.

Law & Order: SVU (NBC, 9pm) – SEASON PREMIERE! A 10-year-old girl runs away and is found with a man who denies any wrongdoing.  That same man then helps detectives with a rape case involving another young girl, but he pushes the limits with his assistance.  Guest starring Henry Ian Cusick. 

Terriers (FX, 10pm) – NEW! To get his home loan approved, Hank agrees to tail the bank manager’s wife, whom he suspects is cheating on him.  Meanwhile, Britt gets an offer to return to his former occupation.  Guest starring Olivia Williams.

Thursday

Bones (Fox, 8pm) – SEASON PREMIERE! Seven months after the Jeffersonian team went its separate ways, they’re summoned back to Washington DC by Caroline Julian when a case involving the body of an unidentified young boy could cost Cam her job.

Fringe (Fox, 9pm) – SEASON PREMIERE! Olivia struggles to free herself from the alternate universe, while her auburn-haired counterpart works alongside the oblivious Peter and Walter.

CSI (CBS, 9pm) – SEASON PREMIERE! Ray fights for his life after being stabbed by serial killer Nate Haskell.  Meanwhile, a troubled teen gets into an explosive confrontation with CSIs, and a funeral attended by lab members turns deadly.  Guest starring Justin Bieber.

Nikita (CW, 9pm) – NEW! Nikita is hurt while rescuing a journalist who is trying to reveal Division’s link to a large plane crash.  Meanwhile, Michael and Percy zero in on Birkhoff as Nikita’s mole and have Amanda interrogate him.

The Mentalist (CBS, 10pm) – SEASON PREMIERE! The CBI is tasked with finding a prominent lawyer who was kidnapped, but Jane questions his future with the team following his encounter with Red John.

Friday

Human Target (Fox, 8pm) – Chance reconnects with FBI agent Emma Barnes when his former associate plans to assassinate a VIP who’s visiting from a foreign country.  Meanwhile, Guerrero recruits a new member for the team.  Repeat

The Good Guys (Fox, 9pm) – NEW! Dan funds an off-the-books sting operation with money he “borrowed” from the Narcotics Division, which inadvertently finances a jailbreak that Dan and Jack must stop.

CSI: NY (CBS, 9pm) – SEASON PREMIERE! New team member Jo Danville discovers the body of a young woman who was murdered somewhere in the New York crime-lab building.  Guest starring Sela Ward. 

Blue Bloods (CBS, 10pm) – SERIES PREMIERE! A New York crime drama focusing on a multigenerational family of cops headed by the city’s police commissioner (Tom Selleck).  In the opener, the youngest son graduates from the police academy.  Meanwhile, his older brother investigates a girl’s kidnapping and is accused of using excessive force to solve the case.

Saturday

Cops (Fox, 8pm) – NEW! Las Vegas police break up a fistfight involving a juvenile; officers in Portland, OR find a stolen vehicle and arrest the suspects in it; and Florida sheriffs make a drug bust in a parking lot.

Cops (Fox, 8:30pm) – Pulling over a suspicious vehicle leads to an on-foot chase and an arrest for possession in Houston; police in Amarillo, TX, rescue a toddler who’s riding his bicycle in a busy intersection without a guardian nearby.  Repeat

America’s Most Wanted (Fox, 9pm) – NEW! Featured fugitives include two Mendocino County, CA men wanted for raping a 14-year-old girl in July 2008 after offering her a ride in a pickup truck.  The victim recalls her ordeal.

48 Hours Mystery (CBS, 10pm) – NEW! Rodney Alcala, a former winner on “The Dating Game,” is exposed as a serial killer.

Law & Order: SVU (NBC, 10pm) – A 10-year-old girl runs away from her adoptive parents and is found with a man who denies any wrongdoing. Detectives then learn that the girl’s parents are hiding something about her past. Guest starring Joan Cusack, Peter Strauss, and Henry Ian Cusick.  Repeat

Sunday

The Glades (A&E, 10pm) – NEW! The death of a young woman is investigated and leads to a complicated love triangle involving a Florida state senator.
