In this house we find all one-to-one relationships, such as marriage, live-in companions, business partners and joint project partners. Any agreement or confrontation between you and another party is a 7th house issue. The natural house of Libra the Scales, it rules the balance in your life between good and bad, positive and negative, dark and light. This house rules legal contracts, which are written agreements between you and another person, company or institution. This house rules divorce, lawsuits, indictments, judges, lawyers, mediators, courts and final judgments.
Let’s say you have finally met the man or woman of your dreams. This usually develops when you have important transits or progressions to the 7th house cusp. The timing is different for everyone, but you know for sure when the planets move into this house. When you fall in love and start an affair, you are exploring and getting to know each other. It’s exciting and highly charged but you really aren’t responsible for each other. This is the 5th house stage. Tradition says when you marry and make a legal commitment it becomes a 7th house relationship. Nowadays the lines of definition are blurred, but when you move in together, bending the old rules, it becomes a 7th house relationship because an agreement of a kind has been made.
Venus and Mars are the most important planets to consider, followed by transits and progressions to the natal Sun and Moon. Jupiter and the outer planets may define the character of the relationship. There may not be planets transiting your 7th house, but usually there is a connection to that house, such as the planet ruling the sign on the cusp. The 7th house will show what to expect when you enter into a marriage or agreement, happiness, sorrow, separation and so forth. Gemini, Sagittarius or Pisces on the cusp could mean more than one marriage. Fixed signs, especially Taurus and Scorpio indicate loyalty and obligation. You may be stubborn, set in your ways and never divorce even if you are miserable. Jupiter in the 7th house could indicate a wealthy partner or a tendency to leave and explore new territory every few years.
Born under Libra, the Sun or Ascendant, you will most likely wed or at least have a strong desire to. But I know several Libra people who have never married. It’s usually because difficult aspects are standing in the way of it. I know two Libra ladies, born in the same month, who have Mars in Capricorn square Neptune in Libra, which may have brought disappointment and disillusionment. One was divorced early and remained single and the other never married at all.
If you are not married but have a roommate(s) you share space and expenses with, this is a 7th house relationship. Example: I’m single but my son lives with me and it’s the same thing. You have to make an effort to get along and make concessions to each other. You can fight and have all sorts of trouble with a roommate just as with a spouse. If this happens, the idea is to meet half way and find a balance. The same rules apply if you are working on a project with a friend or colleague, or starting a business with investment partners. I have a friend in Essex County, a Capricorn lady with a Libra ascendant. She loves to make jewelry (ruled by Libra) and we met several times to make jewelry together and compare techniques and even discussed the possibility of going into business together. This is a perfect example of a 7th house relationship.
