The Internet can seriously compromise your comfort and personal security, yes, even if you live in West Virginia. Seeing how often we have to use it for every day’s tasks, some may wonder how safe that is. Even though many specialists recommend several tricks, like changing password very often (say every other month), there is people that have never changed theirs, without any problem.
Unless you are not afraid of suspicious web sites, working on a protected personal computer may suffice. In other words, you should be reasonably safe surfing on the web if you regularly update you operating system and if you have a good antivirus and a good antispyware tool installed on your computer. However, viruses of any sort like Trojans and security breaches are often behind the corner, trying to find a way inside your desktop or laptop. Security breaches and Trojans give hackers a chance to capture your accounts password and use these passwords to access personal applications like Facebook to advertise products or to advertise websites which will further compromise not only your accounts security, computer and real life, but also your friends’. And that is the reason why security breaches are a permanent threat.
Accessing one person’s password is very easy: if you are using Firefox, all you have to do to visualize the passwords stored is to go to Tools and then Options. Here you click on the ‘Security’ tab and then press the ‘Saved Passwords’ button. Here you will see all your user names and passwords of any online application you are using. Hackers can easily write a small piece of program which can quickly access this very personal information. Not just your Facebook account, but also PayPal and other applications you may use to maintain your financial and economic stability.
It gets a little trickier for Internet Explorer. In this case, if you want to visualize your own passwords you have to download a programs like IE PassView. Install the software, and you will be quickly shown all accounts information stored by Internet Explorer. A similar procedure applies for Google Chrome and Messengers like Yahoo, GTalk and Msn: just download respectively Google Chrome Pass or Messenger key. See below for a link to all these applications. Be safe!
