The Biggest Loser Season 10 Episode 5 Recap: Black and Blue

by echo flam

Tonight on the Biggest Loser, the series picks up where it left off last week. The contestants, who did not manage to make it on the ranch when this season started, were able to weigh in against each other for a spot on the Biggest Loser. At first, it looked as though Sandy or Corey were the shoe in to battle it out for the spot, but in the end it was a major upset and Anna loss 39 pounds at home!

Because Anna managed to lose the most weight at home, she had a couple advantages at her disposal. One was she got to pick the two teams, (this week of course starting the Blue Team against the Black Team), and not only that, but the odd person out gets immunity at weigh in and all the advantages of whatever the winning team receives during their first Blue/Black Team challenge.

In the end, Anna decided to pick herself for Black Team as well as Brendan, Rick, Ada, Frado and Elizabeth, while placing Jessica, Lisa, Jesse, Aaron, Adam, and Mark on the Blue Team. (Patrick ended up receiving immunity and the winnings from tonight’s challenge.)

Naturally all the contestants thought it was naive of Anna to not take the immunity, but Anna was relying on herself and her team to pull the numbers to keep her on the Ranch another night.

At the first Blue vs. Black Team challenge, the contestants must complete a trivial challenge where they have 5 stations to go to. At each station, they must guess the correct answer. If they fail to pick the correct answer, they must suffer a penalty. At first, it seemed that the Black Team was the sure winner. However, the Blue Team gained speed and it was neck in neck. In the end, the Black Team ended up winning the challenge, and got not only letters from home, but also 40 weeks of fresh home meals from the Biggest Loser meal plan.

The shocker? Brendan, Ada, Anna and Frado gave away their letters from home to the Blue Team members who truly needed the letters from home.

After the challenge, the contestants faced the last minute workout for the first time as Blue & Black Teams with their individual trainers. Jillian Michaels, hearing the male contestants on her team exclaim they were throwing the weigh in, issued a plea and they each gave their word they would not indeed, throw the weigh in. Did they manage to keep their word?

The Blue Team was pulling big numbers on the scales, and managed to lose a combined total of 62 pounds, Jesse the highest at 14 pounds! Way to go Jesse!

In order for the Black Team to ensure their places on campus, they needed to lose more than a combined total of 52 pounds in order to win the weigh in. Did they manage to succeed or did they throw the elimination in order to gain Patrick as a solid member of the team?

In the end, the Black Team failed to lose enough weight and had to send a member of their team home, (it rested on if Brendan could pull a 14 pound weight loss or not and he only loss 2 pounds. It made everyone believe that Brendan did still in fact, throw the weigh in and Anna fears she may be going home.)

So was Anna right or was she sent home? A shocker!! Anna was NEVER voted off campus and it was Rick instead of Anna who was sent home. As shocking and disgusting that tonight’s elimination ceremony was. Rick has been an inspiration and a driving force throughout the whole competition. The Chicago Obesity Examiner as well as the rest of Chicago, wishes him a steadfast, continued journey of successful and healthy living.

When Rick started at the Ranch, he weighed 350 pounds. He loss 63 pounds on the Ranch and an additional 47 pounds at home. Congratulations Rick! Keep up the great work.

Next week on the Biggest Loser:

Questions will be answered on whether the Black Team did or did not throw the weigh in. Also, did the game come back to bite the team player’s on their behinds?? Tune in next week for the answer to these questions and more.

Watch the Biggest Loser Tuesdays, 8/7 P.M. CST on Chicago’s Comcast Chanel 5, and repeats On Demand the next day.
