September is officially yoga month. Many of us have taken part in seminars, workshops, outings and adventures that renew our joy of being alive. Just getting involved in yoga, a yogic lifestyle, or a yoga retreat, can be a new risk for many of us. A true risk carries an element of danger as if everything were at stake – – the heart, money, home and family, career and well-being. Full infusion towards a new risk increases anxiety, stomach knots, animal instincts and shaky moments. Why would we do this and leave our safety zone? The Rittenhouse Square group of yogic minded practitioners, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, started adding their thoughts to this new pathway to enlightenment.
If one is going to evolve on the lifetime journey, one will be taking risks, whether or not intentional, just as a measurement that life is an appropriate reality. Risks are tailored to one’s individual situations such as taking a chance at love after a relationship gone bad, using money to help someone in need even though you may be in a challenging financial situation, returning to college, or changing careers. Moving from one state to another can be a decision that often has to occur in order to grow and learn about ourselves, get married, or be with family. Life itself is a huge risk and not being afraid, staying consistent with a grounded yoga practice, and living in the moment is transformational and liberating.
At times laziness, fear, or being stuck can deny us from taking the courageous and proper risks we need to take in order to go forward, releasing destructive behavior and taking on new meaningful, yet risky, chances. Avoidance of an appropriate risk leads us to lack of confidence and lower self-esteem. Self-examination reveals that if we’re going forward into an evolutionary stage, then the risk is correct. Without risks we’re spiritless, dull and inhibited. Face a new and interesting destiny yet do not take a blind risk that feels imbalanced or stale. Do not mistake change and growth for unnecessary hazards or fruitless gambles.
Yoga dedication will enable you to calculate your cosmic ventures. Be brave as the mystery and wonder of choosing a truth for you, after careful consideration, takes place. Reveal yourself and stay true and organic to who you are. Being wise when a risk is taken results in an experience going into the direction of self bravery. Allow your risk to set forth internally and open to the unexpected. Heightened awareness in risk taking exposes us to a perspective that might have been hidden within ourselves prior to learning and being happy in the process of evolution.
Use your yoga practice daily to meditate on who you are and what you really want and need. Your risk taking will lead you to a willing and safe pathway of profound, broadened and vital connectedness to those you love and into alignment and celebration in the presence of self-discovery.
Yoga, meditation and risks accent your lifestyle.
