Locations in Sarasota, FL and Bellville, OH
Troyer’s has two locations, one in Sarasota, Florida and the other in Bellville, Ohio. During the winter months some Amish and Mennonites from Ohio or other Midwestern areas migrate to the Pinecraft district in Sarasota, Florida to escape the cold. Others live in the Pinecraft district year round. Many Amish and Mennonite residents make their living by selling vegetables and baked goods at Amish owned vegetable stands, working in Amish style restaurants such as Troyer’s or Yoder’s Amish restaurant located just down the street from Troyers or building handcrafted furniture pieces at local furniture stores such as Miller’s Dutch Haus Furniture located across the parking lot at Troyer’s.
Dine in or take home a family size dinner
The atmosphere in the large open dining room is warm and relaxed with a farm country flair. The dining room includes an extensive hot and cold buffet area and banquet facilities that can accommodate groups of 20-300 people. Troyer’s aims to please by offering flavorful broasted chicken (pressure cooked and fried to seal in the juices), hearty pot roast beef, baked salmon, roasted turkey and many other home style items. The salad bar has a variety of fresh greens, pasta salad, beets, bean salad, pickled eggs, homemade bread, country style peanut butter and homemade apple butter.
In addition to the various entree selections on hot buffet at dinner, the buffet also has flavorful side dishes such as sweet potato casserole, green beans, turkey stuffing, beef and chicken gravy, mashed potatoes and macaroni and cheese. The buffet continues with a dessert table of homemade chocolate and vanilla cake with a choice of ice-cream delivered to your table. The dinner buffet is budget friendly offered at $11.49 Monday – Thursday and $12.49 Friday and Saturday.
Troyer’s recently opened an inviting outside dining area enclosed with a white picket fence that allows pets. Next to the outside dining area there is also a fairly new carry-out service area that is also attached to the main dining room that features Specials of the Day, boasted chicken ham, turkey and other entrees and a lengthy dessert menu. During the cool winter months one could order dessert, coffee and a small order of chicken nuggets for a special family pet then relax in the outdoor dining area. In the evenings, the carry-out area is usually quite busy with individuals purchasing dinner and dessert to go.
In a fast paced world with plentiful pizza and Chinese options it is refreshing to find a restaurant that focuses on keeping food simple and delicious. A dining experience at Troyer’s could include sampling homemade flavors the all-you-can-eat buffet or choosing a dessert item from the lengthy display cases in the bakery. Bakery items are made fresh daily and include cakes, pies, cookies, donuts, muffins and breads. After dinner one could head upstairs to wander through Troyer’s Heritage gift shop. Before leaving for the night one could finish the evening by spending a few minutes relaxing in one of the handcrafted rocking chairs on Troyer’s front porch.
