In what ended up being a preview for this Sundays’ Bragging Rights Pay-Per-View, the SmackDown Superstars invaded Monday Night RAW, this past Monday night, leaving as winners of an impromptu battle royal.
It was also a night that saw yet more humiliation for John Cena at the hands of Wade Barrett and The Nexus. Jeez, how much more of this can Cena take?
Without further ado, here’s a look at Monday evening’s episode of Monday Night RAW:
The Good – I don’t know how much more Cena can take from Nexus, nor how much more of this storyline I can take! What initially started out a couple of months back as an interesting storyline has gotten old much too quickly. With Barrett set to face champ Randy Orton this Sunday, and with Cena in the corner of Nexus’ leader, here’s hoping the drama comes to an end. Then again, WWE seems to like to get every last ounce out of a bit.
* Kudos to WWE on the Daniel Bryan–Dolph Ziggler impromptu storyline. With Bryan and The Miz apparently done with their battles, I’m happy to see Bryan get some more air time with a new foe, albeit perhaps for just one night (Bragging Rights).
The Bad – Whether you like him or not, Chris Jericho is entertaining both in and out of the ring. Not having Y2J in attendance (he’s off doing some filming) is a bummer. With Edge now once again on SmackDown, it would be nice to have the other Canadian mouthpiece back on RAW.
* Just when I think WWE is about to fix the problem it has with the Divas, they go and screw it up with a stupid bit the other night following the Natalya–Alicia Fox match. Michelle McCool and Layla are no doubt irritating as hell, but these little stunts at the end of matches recently are getting old very quickly. Here’s hoping Nattie gets the belt this weekend at Bragging Rights and puts these two out of their misery.
The Ugly – The Ted DiBiase–Goldust storyline has already got me bored to tears. As a longtime fan of Goldust, I’m happy he’s getting more TV time now. That being said, I think turning DiBiase face at some point is the only way to push this guy over. The DiBiase-Maryse angle they’ve tried to push is old to say the least. Also was unhappy we didn’t see Maryse and Aksana square off in the ring during their short encounter the other night.
Once and for all….please can the guest host deal. It was great with folks like Bob Barker and Snoop Dogg, but has clearly fizzled with others, including this past Monday night.
And as for Hornswoggle attacking Michael Cole the other night, hell, let the two of them square off at Bragging Rights!
Overall, a decent show, but could have been so much better.
So, what were your thoughts of MNR?
