Police suspect foul play in case of missing psychic and her husband
FORT COLLINS, Colo. — Police suspect foul play in the case of the missing Fort Collins area psychic and her husband and said Monday that 10 search warrants have been executed in the case, and that the husband’s car was found at a Longmont motel.
The search for Kathy Adams and her husband, John Marks, Jr., began a week ago when Larimer County sheriff’s deputies conducting a welfare check at the couple’s East Mulberry Street home found suspicious circumstances that, according to an agency statement, made them suspect foul play.
In order to protect the integrity of the investigation Sheriff’s Spokeswoman Eloise Campanella said investigators will not reveal what was found at the home.
Adams’ brother and sister have said they fear for Kathy Adams’ safety because the 57-year-old was trying to leave her husband when they both vanished.
Adams’ sister, Debbie Mitchell, told 7NEWS the psychic lived in fear of her 48-year-old husband and was determined to leave him because he was abusive.
ABC 7 News reported that the sheriff has nine investigators and two lab technicians working to solve the mystery case, and more than a dozen interviews have been conducted, Campanella said in a statement.
“The staff of investigators have been pouring over leads and analyzing evidence generated from these search warrants and interviews,” Campanella said.
Investigators found Marks’ 1995 silver four-door Buick LaSabre the day after the investigation begain – October 13 – parked at a Longmont motel near Interstate 25 and Colorado Highway 119. The motel is 30 miles sound of the couple’s home outside Fort Collins.
Investigators waited five days to go public with the car discovery, ABC 7 News reported, because “they’re just really keeping things close to the vest on this investigation,” said sheriff’s spokesman John Schulz.
Detectives have amassed 25 pieces of evidence seized while executing 10 search warrants since the case began.
Schulz said he didn’t know the locations that have been searched, except the couple’s home.
On Monday, investigators met with Colorado Bureau of Investigation officials to prioritize the analysis of evidence. Investigators have also used a K-9 dog to search locations that they won’t disclose, Schulz said.
Anyone with information regarding this case or who may have seen John Marks Jr., Kathy Adams , or the 1995 Buick should contact the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office at 970-416-1985.
