For those who remembered the Executive Inn (or the Big “E”), the last two years of legal battles and uncertainly will come crashing down with the walls of the hotel. Starting Monday, October 4th, city workers will be installing a floodgate designed to protect workers and the public safe during the demolition of the Executive Inn.
The hotel liquidation process wrapped up this weekend. According to Pam Spencer, Public Information Officer for the city of Paducah, work will include the floodgate and fencing installation. For the first few weeks of the demolition, workers will be inside the structure, and will concentrate on the hotel interior and the adjoining wall that connects the hotel to the Julian M. Carroll Convention Center.
The demolition is scheduled to be completed by March 2011. Schultz Park will remain open during the demolition.
