Police told news sources that gunfire erupted again at the intersection of Prescott and Wilson Streets. 12 shots were fired, but no one was injured. Bullets hit cars and apartment buildings in the densely populated area police told WMUR News 9.
When Kean located Miranda on Wilson Street he pointed him out to his father. Kean told police that Miranda reached into the diaper bag again, pulled out the handgun and fired at them, the New Hampshire Union Leader said. Both Keans denied being the first to fire the Union Leader reported, and said they claim to only have returned fire. However, there are conflicting reports on who fired first during the second encounter.
The Union Leader reported that, “the elder Kean told police he fired all seven rounds in his P238 Sig Sauer .380 pistol.” His son has bail conditions on a burglary charge prohibiting him from having weapons the Union Leader said. But, the younger Kean told police that “he fired one or two rounds from a Taurus .380 pistol from his vehicle,” the Union Leader stated.
The Keans called police after Miranda left the area with the stroller.
One of the concerns of police is that they believe “the Keans could have left the area and avoided the gun battle.” But, instead they stopped their vehicles and engaged in the battle placing others in danger the Union Leader reported.
When his is located Miranda will face two counts of felony reckless conduct, the Manchester Police blog said.
Both Keans were arrested Tuesday, held overnight at the Valley Street jail and arraigned Wednesday in Manchester District Court. Both men were released on $50,000 cash or surety bail pending probable cause hearings that are scheduled for September 15 news sources said.
Manchester Police request you call them at 603-668-8711 or the Manchester Crimeline at 624-4040 if you see Jose Miranda or if you have any information on the shootings. Miranda is 5’6″, 150 pounds with black hair and brown eyes and is said to have cornrows in his hair. He should be considered armed and very dangerous police said.
