Nick Cannon is wild’n’out……. on Slim Shady.
Over a year after Eminem put out the album Relapse, which featured the song “Bagpipes over Baghdad”, and then leaked the scathing freestyle, “Warning”, both dissing Cannon’s wife, legendary R&B songstress Mariah Carey, for lying about a one-night stand she and the foul-mouthed, Detroit-raised Caucasian MC allegedly had years ago after his divorce from Kim Scott, the former All That cast member and Wild’N’Out host has recently released his answered back with a song called “I’m A Slick Rick”, named after the bring of such hits as “Children’s Story’ and “La-Di-Da-Di” with Doug E. Fresh. The sex romp allegedly happened prior to Carey meeting Cannon.
According to SOHH.com, Cannon fired (pun intended) at Eminem in the rap song with the following lyrics, all said using an imitation of the UK-born hip-hop legend’s trademark’s voice:
Now once upon a time in a far away life/There lived a young man who was so outstanding, to make it interesting it’s me, Nick Cannon — Now here’s a little something that needs to be heard/Yo I’ma serve this clown, now/Word, Nick?/Word/I don’t know if I should hit him because he’s feminine Slick, excuse me Eminem why you lying on your d*ck?/Erectile dysfunction, you wanna get ’em up — I see your mouth moving but you soft, Teddy Ruxpin/I tried to holla at you at the BET show, but you were scared of the trouble/More security than the Pope/And while you was in your bubble, I was rolling dolo, any time your face is in the streets is some signs for promo/Oh no, there’s been a mistake, see my name is Slick Nick, not Shady Flakes/I’ma mop you up with my wop like it’s ’88…”
Cannon, 29, an quasi-accomplished actor and less-than-successful MC who starred in the acclaimed film Drumline, married Carey in 2008. Carey ,40, had been previously married to Tommy Mottola, former head of Sony Music, and singer Luis Miguel. The two have not children, but recently the pair has done nothing to quell rumors of Carey’s pregnancy. In fact, Cannon, instead of giving a straight answer, has helped fuel them.
Eminem, whose real name is Marshall Bruce Mathers, III, on the other hand, has a daughter, Hailie, whom he has referenced in numerous songs throughout his career, by Scott, who spoke out against her ex during a recent interview, touching in the two tumultuous marriages to the MC: one which lasted from 1999-2001; and the second from 2006-2008. Scott has a daughter, Whitney, from a relationship that preceded her first marriage to Eminem, and a niece, Alaina; both of whom the MC adopted.
Slim Shady, as Eminem is also known, has had high-profile beefs with the likes of Ja Rule (whose target has been Eminem’s friend and signee, 50 Cent), Boston-based magazine owner and MC Benzino, the rock/hip-hop band Limp Bizkit, techno genius Moby, singers Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera (the latter with whom Eminem also claimed to have a one-night stand), and House of Pain frontman Everlast (defended by Limp Bizkit’s DJ Lethal, who was once an HOP member, in an interview which enraged Eminem and caused him to strike out against the entire band).
Prior to Cannon’s diss, Slim Shady spoke to VIBE magazine:
“You know what? I got to be honest. I really don’t want to talk about her anymore only just because it’s kind of like the last thing I said about her was on ‘Cold Wind Blows.’ I made the comment, [‘Take a look at Mariah next time I inspire you to write a song.’], I don’t want to keep beating a dead horse. I’m not even going to comment about it. I’m done with that whole situation. I said what I had to say. I’m done.”
The song he refers to can be found on Eminem’s newest album, Recovery, released a year after Relapse.
This diss record may change Slim’s mind. And he may come back harder than ever. Nick Cannon, watch out!
Somebody should have let it go. Whether Carey did sleep with Slim is actually no one’s concern but theirs. It’s understandable that Cannon is angry about Shady’s harsh words toward his wife, but if they only sat down and talked about it, none of this would come about. BUT hip-hop is competitive and full of well-thought out diss records like “Warning” and others in Eminem’s repertoire, so this may be something to challenge the white MC with. That being said, this hatred must come to an end.
