I am not a particularly skinny girl. and while I do something wish I was a size zero so I could waltz through life in skinny jeans that seems effortlessly painted on, it’s not going to ever happen. But recently, I received a pair of Miraclebody jeans to try out. These jeans by Miraclebody claim to make you look 1o ounds thinner, in 10 seconds. Now that’s a pretty big claim! The jeans looked nice, and were good quality, but I was in the middle of Fashion Week, and didn’t have the time to try them.
Finally, however, I did get around to trying them on. One of the first things that caught my eye was the lining, that said” “established in 1937” all over it. If these Miraclebody jeans were so new, what was that all about? What I didn’t realize until I did some searching around, is that the jeans are new, but the company is not. The company is makes the Miraclesuit®, a popular brand of control swimwear. They’ve been making women look more beautiful (and happy on the beach) since 1937! So Miraclebody follows the heritage of Miraclesuit by creating and offering comfortable form-flattering fashion control apparel including jeans, tops, skirts, and leggings.
The key to the fit and comfort of Miraclebody jeans is not so much the cut, as the fabric. Miraclebody jeans have twice the spandex of ordinary jeans, to slim the thighs and lift the rear, and offer a comfortable fit. The front has a control panel with a fabric called ” Miratex,” that acts to lightly control tummy bulges.
I am wearing these jeans as I type this, and trust me,while they fit well and they are super comfy, they are not dowdy, ill-fitting, baggy, saggy, unfashionable “mom jeans” (although apparently, a lot of young women who have had babies are raving about the fit). If you didn’t know that there was extra spandex, you’d just think you finally found the perfect fitting pair of sexy jeans. As to losing 10 lbs in ten seconds, I’d rather suggest to you that there won’t be muffin top, thigh bulge, and the feeling of being in a vice vice. Jeans that are too tight and don’t “give” don’t let you look svelte. Wearing the right size, the right style, and the right type of fabric, does the trick. I am not sure I looked 10 pounds lighter, but I definitely looked trendier, and sexier, and more confident. And, I’ve been wearing these jeans for hours, and I am comfortable and happy. You can’t look slim and sexy and confident if you are uncomfortable, To me, the idea that jeans don’t squeeze my curves and waist until I want to scream “Uncle!” is the icing on the cake. The only downside, if you can call it that, is that I had to go UP one size to find a fit that really worked. Not good for my ego, but the right size was good for my body!
The classic, boot cut, Samantha Jeans I tried are $110.00 which is pretty much the going rate for all the jeans styles. They’re not budget basement but they’re a good investment, and a lot cheaper than some of the “designer” denims that don’t seem to offer very much at all. These Samantha jeans are mid-rise, which means they fall “one finger below the navel.” There is a 32″ inseam (I didn’t see tall or petite choices, but the regular fit my 5’3″ frame, well with a medium heel), and the10” Mid-rise design is slightly higher in the back for additional rear coverage. So you eliminate any chance of “muffin top” on top, and when you bend over, you don’t risk giving everyone a free show. My Samantha jeans are 96% Cotton, 4% Spandex: comfortable fit with breath-easy stretch and are a deep blue “Lagoon” wash, but there’s also an elegant, “Ebony” wash as well. Mine had a plain, classic pocket, but you can also get this particular style with fancier styling on the pockets. If boot cut doesn’t float your boat, there are straight leg, skinny, cropped and leggings styles as well.
Of course, you can wash these in a washing machine (inside out on gentle cycle) but I never put my jeans in the dryer. They’re made in the USA of imported fabric. The Miraclebody Jeans collection features premium denim, tops, skirts and other shaping apparel from the makers of Miraclesuit Swimwear. The jeans are available in sizes 2 to 18 at Bloomingdales, Nordstroms, Lord & Taylor and on-line at Saks.com, Cyberswim.com and www.Miraclebody.com
