Say what you want about Reno’s Tea Party darling Sharron Angle (R-NV), the woman has chutzpah. At a recent conference hosted by constitutional conservatives in Utah, the prominent Nevada Republican urged Utahns to help “take out” her opponent, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid.
Of course, Angle quickly explained that she merely wants to defeat Reid this November, something the laughing audience understood, because they share her broad, conservative view that Americans want government to spend less, tax less and support the U.S. Constitution more… the very opposite of what Reid has been doing in Washington.
Angle had no problem rebutting Reid’s claim that her ideas are “extreme.”
“This is mainstream America… folks [who] understand we’ve got to get up off our big, fat sofas and do something. We’re not sure what it is, but we’ve heard the call,” she said.
A staunch conservative Republican and former member of the Nevada Assembly, Angle is backed by the Tea Party Express, Eagle Forum leader Phyllis Schlaffly and the Club for Growth, a conservative group credited with aiding the ouster of incumbent Senator Bob Bennett (R-UT) in last spring’s GOP primary.
Prior to his loss, Bennett declared publicly that Angle could not defeat Reid. Angle responded by saying Bennett had “outlived his usefulness” and no longer represented the mainstream. Angle backed the more conservative Mike Lee, who subsequently defeated Bennett as the Republican candidate for Bennett’s seat. Score: Conservative Republicans 1, Moderate Republicans 0. Another RINO incumbent is sent home.
Sharron has cajones, and like the Tea Party patriots who support her, she will not allow Harry Reid’s considerable army of mudslingers slow her drive to change the direction Reid has been taking America. Reid’s camp boasts that they have the support of “more than 200 Nevada Republican leaders, as well as law enforcement and business leaders,” yet local Nevadans know that list includes mostly RINOs and moderate Republicans who have joined Harry’s camp in return for more of Harry’s handouts, should he be re-elected.
These turncoats don’t support Sharron because she cannot be swayed, mediated or bought. In fact, Angle is most definitely not a “reach across the aisle” kind of gal, and that’s a good thing. She doesn’t care if the libs, the moderates and RINOs hate her and say mean things about her, she stands her conservative ground. She withstood four terms in Nevada’s uber-lib state assembly and earned their condemnation as “the worst legislator” in that supposedly august group… exactly the kind of label that propelled her to become the champion of Nevada’s constitutional conservatives.
Yes, Sharron is not a perfectly-polished politician, folks, and we like that about her. She’s a Reno mom, teacher, previous Assemblywoman and fighter for the little guy.
Angle is us, and she’s exactly the kind of rabble-rouser Washington needs.
