Do you need some last minute Grandparents Day activities in Columbus? Grandparents Day is celebrated annually in September on the first Sunday after Labor Day. With the back to school rush striking most families in the Columbus area, along with the onset of fall sports and football season, the Grandparents Day holiday has a way of creeping up on busy parents and grandchildren. If you are still in need of Grandparents Day plans, there are lots of options in Central Ohio for Grandparents Day 2010.
The Best of Fall Home Show runs from Friday, September 10, 2010, through Sunday, September 12, 2010, at the Ohio Expo Center. The show offers family friendly activities, displays, and demonstrations—and a special Kids Day on September 11, 2010. Lots of vendors will be on hand to offer advice and tips for all of those home projects.
The Hot Times Music and Arts Festival is held in Olde Towne East (Parsons & Main Streets) through September 12. The free three day festival hosts locally and nationally known artists and performers and offers family friendly entertainment and hands on activities.
Jack Hanna’s Fall Fest at the Columbus Zoo begins. The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium welcomes autumn in Columbus with special family friendly events and fall themed activities. Dora the Explorer is even scheduled for limited “meet and greet” opportunities during Grandparents Day weekend.
Experience some outdoor fun with the grandparents at one of the many free activities in the Columbus Metro Parks. From a Commit to Be Fit walk to educational programs, the parks are very busy in September. Looking for an early Grandparents Day activity? The Columbus GospelFest is set to be held in Genoa Park on Saturday, September 11, 2010, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. The free event presents local and national artists, plus a wellness fair with free health screenings and a children’s Edu-Fun Fest of activities and games from 2 p.m to 6 p.m.
