Katie Holmes says she’s done having babies – For now. At the current moment, the mother of four-year-old Suri says she’s struggling to maintain the status of “working mom” while maintaining normalcy for her daughter.
NO NANNIES FOR SURI
For mama bear Katie, scheduling and routine is an important factor to overall health in Suri’s life. Katie says that even when the family’s traveling, she wakes Suri up to do chores around the house or hotel. Every day, the little fashionista must make the bed and put away her dishes.
“We travel a lot, and so for me, it’s keeping a daily schedule for Suri that never changes,” says Katie, 31. “We wake up and we do the same thing. She does her chores. If she doesn’t get her chores done, I notice she’s not really herself,” she adds, as quoted by Us Weekly.
KATIE HOLMES SUFFERS FROM ONLY-CHILD SYNDROME
Katie grew up as the youngest in her family of five to her homemaker mother and lawyer father. Among her brothers and sisters Tamera, Holly Ann, Martin Joseph, Jr. and Nancy Kay, Katie says she loved having all the attention of her mother growing up.
“I’m the youngest in my family —- my closest sister is five years older than me, and the next one is nine years ahead of me, so I was a bit of an only child, and I liked it!” says the October Marie Claire covergirl. “I liked having all of my mom’s attention, and sometimes I think I still do.”
WORKING MOM KATIE HOLMES PIGS OUT
Despite the fact that Katie is starring in her new flick The Romantics (and serving as executive producer), she admitted there’s no time in her life for another baby. Giving a new brother or sister to Suri would mean giving up a surge in her career.
“Maybe in a couple of years,” she told the mag. “But right now I want to make sure I’m really there for Suri.”
While filming the movie and being an on-call mom to Suri, Katie’s reportedly been “relentless” in producing The Romantics and keeping a feeling of unity among the cast and crew. As mentioned in the mag, Katie’s been known to serve up cupcakes to her staff to keep them smiling.
According to a report by The Daily Mail, Mrs. Cruise had boxes of cupcakes flown in from New York from Todd English’s Food Hall at the Plaza Hotel in New York. She did this on the Canadian set of “The Kennedys” and when she was filming Mad Money in 2007.
“She loves cupcakes, okay?” hubby Tom told People Magazine in a past interview. “…I mean, the girl loves cupcakes!”
…AND WORKS OUT!
From countless hours on the set to playing mom to Suri, Katie still has to find time in the day to slave off the calories. Recently, Holmes was spotted heading into a Hollywood dance studio ready to shimmy.
“A lot of celebrity moms, like Gwyneth Paltrow (get her workout and diet here) and Katie Holmes are into dance driven workout programs,” writes MakeoverMomma.com. “Because they get tired of standard cardio.”
Remember the report last year that Katie Holmes keeps her weight in check being on a “sex diet” with Tom? This was debunked, but Katie and Tom are often spotted hitting the trails together. As an avid runner, Katie has competed in road races and runs 3-4 times per week to tone and zone out.
“[She] looks svelte and toned,” says Dr. Ian Smith, the go-to guy on VH1’s ‘Celebrity Rehab’. “She has curves where a woman should [and] she’s carrying a healthy weight,” he adds. Mentioning that she’s at “a good level” of fitness for her body composition.
