Das Dutchman Essenhaus Comprised of a 120 acre complex, Das Dutchman Essenhaus includes a family-style restaurant and bakery, the Village Shops and the 89 room Essenhaus Inn and Conference Center.
The restaurant, Indiana’s largest with 1100 seats, offers guests 3 styles of dining — menu-style dining, a buffet and Family style dining which includes a beverage and pie for dessert. Das Dutchman Essenhaus’ bakery offers over 30 varieties of homemade pies, noodles, homemade apple butter, bread, rolls and cookies for purchase in addition to spices, candies, specialty cookware and Amish country cookbooks.
The Village Shops offer visitors a chance to purchase fashions, collectibles, accessories,souvenirs, jewelry and handmade Amish quilts. Christmas items are available at The Cabin. Starting in October, hours for the Village Shops will be 9 a.m-7 p.m. Monday- Thursday and 9 a.m.- 8 p.m. Friday-Saturday.
Family-friendly activities at Das Dutchman Essenhaus include horse-drawn carriage rides, miniature golf, and bike rentals. The property even includes a windmill and a covered bridge.
The Essenhaus Inn offers standard rooms, balcony rooms, one and two room suites and deluxe suites, Amenities at the Inn include an indoor pool, hot tub, fitness room, game room and breakfast. From October 24- April 28, 2011, the Essenhaus Inn is offering special package deals from Sundays – Thursdays. Bonneyville Mill For those who wish to venture out, try visiting the Bonneyville Mill, located in Bristol, Indiana, just 4 miles from Das Dutchman Essenhaus. The Mill can be found in the 223 acre Bonneyville Mill County Park which also includes a canal, garden, playground and 5 miles of hiking trails.
The Bonneyville Mill is the oldest continually operating gristmill in Indiana and has produced flour for over 150 years. Visitors can tour the mill, visit the gift shop and purchase the mill’s flour.
