Zeig Heil Joe Miller Nazi brown shirt for Senate from Alaska. His supporters march with assault rifles in addition to campaign signs. When asked about undocumented workers his response was, ” Build a wall, if the East Germans could do it, so can we.” According to Shannyn Moore political blogger from Homer, Alaska, Mr. Miller showed up one day wearing mirrored sun glasses with private security guards in an attempted Coup d” etat of the Alaskan Republican Party a move also supported by Sarah Palin. He eventually lost. That was in the Spring of 2008.
Joe Miller has refused to answer questions about his past but demands that we trust him to be one of 100 men and women who will decide the issues of our nation, such as how should America distribute its vast resources and what kind of nation we will be. We have a right to know about someone we are entrusting our future to.
The story that sparked the illegal hand cuffing of a reporter by Miller’s non deputized private security forces stems from Miller losing his job several months after the attempted Republican Party take over for using the computer resources of his employer, The Fairbanks North Star Borough, to rig some type of vote, and then attempting to conceal that fact.
Terry Hopfinger, the editor at the Alaska Dispatch and host of a U.S. Senate debate scheduled for Monday evening followed Joe Miller out into the Hallway after a debate on Sunday to ask further questions about the allegations. That happens to be his job.
The event took place at an Elementary School at a public event being held at the time Hopfinger attempted ask Miller the questions. Two or three of Miller’s private sercurity detail warned Hopfinger that he was to leave or risk being arrested for trespassing at a public event. When Hopfinger continued to ask his question one of the private security detail illegally arrested him and placed him in hand cuffs. He was later released when police arrived and Hopfinger was charged with nothing.
The Miller side claims that Hopfinger pushed people. That has not been confirmed nor does it absolve Miller’s people of assault in detaining and illegally hand cuffing Hopfinger. Hopfinger for his part is deciding whether to pursue further legal action.
Ms. Moore reports that the Drop Zone the security firm that handles Miller’s security detail, is packed full of Right Wingers and “crazies.” They have bragged to potential patrons of their firm that they are packed with former Blackwater operatives and men who have engaged in secret renditions and black ops overseas. They have a preference for just first names from their clients and cash only payments up front of course so there can be no trace and no disclosure. Just like some insane real life Mission Impossible force.
Many of us thought that Blackwater and the whole private secret military thing was a threat to the freedom of any one who didn’t agree politically with Right Wing fruit cake paranoia and their desire for authoritarian dictatorship because they are too weak to tolerate honest debate and dissent and like most Right Wingers can’t tolerate thinking for themselves or the threat to their ego integration that diffrences of opinion pose. Running for office with your own private army is certainly not mainstream. It is certainly a threat to most of our conceptions of freedom. Scott McAdams the Democrat running against Miller hit the nail on the head when he said ,” The Constitution also applies to reporters.”
