It is now that time of year when boys and ghouls start to pick out their Halloween costumes. Parents are stocking up on candy and start to look for fun and safe places that their family can go to have a spooktacular good time this Halloween season. This year Lowry Park Zoo is having their annual Zoo Boo right here in Tampa. Parents Magazine voted Lowry Park Zoo best Zoo, and Zoo Boo is Tampa’s largest and most family friendly Halloween event.
This years Zoo Boo is an Egyptian pyramid themed attraction that is full of mummies, tombs, shadows, experimented aliens, hair raising haunted houses, and freakishly fun rides for all ages in the family. Costumes are expected for children 11 and under. Sorry adults and teens no costumes allowed for you, but there is sure to be something that will scare the pants right off you!
For children that are younger there is the Pumpkins Patch Express Train and the Scary Go Round Carousel. Family favorites are the Ghoulish Games, Animal Exhibits, Creepy Crawler, Bat Exhibit, and the new Boogie Monster Bounce with inflatable bouncers guaranteed fun for all ages.
There are several haunted houses at Zoo Boo this year. Located near the Main Entrance of the zoo the new Pharaoh’s Tomb of Revenge, which is filled with lost artifacts that contain spirits who haunt and unleash curses on every one who enters.
The Declassified Alien Project is a medical research lab by day, and by night is a hidden lab where strange alien experiments are done. Come and see for yourself! What do you believe?
The Sinister Shadows haunted house truly is a gothic nightmare. The “shadow beings” have escaped from a crack with in our universe that leads to a parallel world that has darkness, shadows, and whispers of beings. This haunted house is located near Lake Sharon.
The 3-D Fright Theater: Trapped in Time is an infamous old abandoned theater, which is located on the banks of the Hillsborough River and has freakishly re appeared. You can become apart of the movies that were playing in the 1950’s.
When you have had your fill of scary sights and sounds there is a place where you can also get your shop and food fill too. Lowry Park Zoo Boo also has unique boo-tigues that are filled with Halloween and fall merchandise for all members of the family.
Lowry Park Zoo Boo is located at 1101 West Sligh Ave. Tampa Florida, 33604. The hours of operation are Friday and Saturday 7-11 pm, Sunday thru Thursday 7-10 pm. Dates of Zoo Boo are October 1-2, 8-10, 15-17, 22-24, and 28-31. General admission tickets are $17 for adults (12 and over), and $14 for children (3-11). Tickets are available at the zoo, and online.
