1 John 4 (King James Version):
1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.
2 Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:
3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.
4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
There are a lot of false teachings going about. And there are those who come “in sheep’s clothing,” as if they’re really of God and saying things that only satisfy the flesh. Such things sound good to those who are willing to cater to them.
These same folk not only “disguise their lies,” but also denounce the deity of Christ and believe that he was just among those great men who did good things and then left the scene. Their followers also reject Christ and his power unto holiness, to promote their own ungodly agenda.
“Ungodly” is the term that best fits the description of such. But, thanks be to God for those who possess the power of the Holy Ghost, and allow him to work in their lives, because he’s true to his word; but you must have his “Spirit of truth” and his word of truth in order to know that, to not get swept up in the tidal-wave of deception.
And if a person isn’t of God, he’s really against him (antichrist), but for the devil. And the devil doesn’t care about the welfare of your soul or anyone else’s, because he knows he’s going straight to Hell, and is taking as many that’ll believe a lie, to go there with him.
This is why it’s so imperative to repent towards God, and to receive his Spirit, having him on your side, to keep him before you, building yourself upon his word and his power, and of fervent prayer. And once you get an ongoing relationship with him, you’ll begin to know the truth from a lie. Now, are you for the truth, or against him?
