In a shocking twist on “Dancing with the Stars”, Florence Henderson was eliminated from the dance competition.
Guess the “monkey business” paid off
After a dismal performance Monday night in which, not only was she dressed as a gorilla but she also forgot the dance, Bristol Palin and her partner Mark Ballas will return to compete next week.
So will the second lowest scoring couple (but often crowd favorite) Kyle Massey and his partner Lacey Schwimmer.
Also left hanging to the almost bitter end? Rick Fox and Cheryl Burke and surprisingly, Jennifer Grey and Derek Hough – who up until last week, have been the one’s to beat.
Florence’s shock and disappointment was obvious
After her shocking elimination (she achieved her best scores Monday night for her performance), Henderson told US Magazine that she “was a little surprised, but you know, I’ve watched this show since it began, and I’ve seen absolutely shocking things happen on it, so somebody has to go.”
Hhhmmm…could the surprise visit and smooch by former co-star Barry Williams (a.k.a. Greg Brady) have turned people off? After all, it was viewer votes that saved Bristol and Kyle.
Palin, on the other hand, is breathing a sigh of relief. “I’m so relieved. It is like a big weight lifted off my shoulders. I was scared and nervous going into the night, but we got through so that’s very exciting…I was definitely surprised and shocked when they said we were safe…with our low scores and stuff, it was pretty stressful.”
Palin thinks she was “saved” by viewer voters because they “saw rawness and vulnerability.”
Or maybe they thought they were watching “Planet of the Apes” and didn’t realize it was her screwing up the dance.
She went on, “I’m just so thankful that they kept me another week and they see potential in my obviously. Hopefully I can prove that I can be a performer.” And though her confidence got a big boost Tuesday night, she realizes that “we’ve got lots of work to do for next week, and I’m ready to go practice.”
“I was shocked that Bristol was safe. But once they announced it, I had a feeling it might be Florence voted out,” said Maria C of Cincinnati.
