A few months ago, Fairfield Inn & Suites® by Marriott® built a new property in the city of New Bedford near the state pier just off of route eighteen at 185 MacArthur Dr. The city was in need of a brand new high profile hotel for business and tourism.
Based on information gathered from a sales associate the hotel is attracting a lot of bookings from business travelers. In fact part of their construction plan, which is in progress, is a conference center with audio-visual amenities which is scheduled to be opened this month.
This new conference center is to be situated adjacent to the main hotel and called: The Waypoint Event Center at the New Bedford Fairfield Inn & Suites® by Marriott®. At one time the building was a factory which manufactured goods for the city. Renovating old factories has become a trend in the last several years. It’s a welcome trend for boosting the historical aspects of the city, the economy and tourism.
After getting a chance to see the interior there is no question that the staff keeps their facility neat, clean and welcoming. The employees are focused on customer service and it shows.
As the guest walks in they will notice a business center off to the right with two computers for the use of printing documents, checking e-mail or the latest news. Also there are two large flat panel TV sets. One set hangs on a wall in an extended lounge area. Another one hangs adjacent to the check-in desk and shows daily schedules for the hotel and promotes city events.
The Waypoint Events Center at the New Bedford Fairfield Inn & Suites® by Marriott® has hosted one event but the AV equipment, internet and phone lines have yet to be completely installed according to a front desk clerk.
Some of the amenities include: free wireless internet access and a digital flat panel TV in every guest room.
