The California Department of Public Health updated its Egg Recall Master List, a list of California restaurants and other businesses that received eggs involved in the recall. According to the CDPH, thousands of California businesses received recalled eggs, including these grocery stores in San Jose: Food Maxx, Food Source, Hai Thanh Supermarket, Mi Pueblo, Safeway, Senter Foods, and Trader Joe’s.
The nationwide egg recall began on August 13, 2010 and continues to slowly expand. In addition to the eggs themselves being recalled, last week two Illinois companies recalled fresh Asian noodle products that were made with recalled eggs. Any uncooked products made with the recalled eggs have the potential to be contaminated with salmonella.
Good Taste Noodle Mfg. of Chicago, Illinois recalled its egg noodles and wonton skins labeled with production dates between June 19, 2010 and August 19, 2010.
Real Taste Noodle Manufacture of Chicago, Illinois recalled its 5-pound bags of Egg Noodles that were distributed between June 12, 2010 and August 25, 2010.
How to Check Your Eggs
To check your eggs, look for the production code printed on the end of the carton. The production code typically begins with the letter “P” and is followed by a plant number and a three-digit date code. Some brands may display the numbers in a different order or not include the “P” before the plant number.
If your eggs fall into the plant number and date codes listed below, do not eat them. Check the FDA’s Shell Eggs Recall Products List for further information about the eggs included in the recall. Return the eggs to the place you bought them and ask for a full refund. You do not need a receipt, your egg carton is sufficient proof of purchase.
