On Monday’s Days of Our Lives, when EJ Dimera awakes from brain surgery after having been shot by Sami Brady (Alison Sweeney), he’ll be sporting a shaved head. While most soap actors simply don surgical bandages, or the seldom-convincing skullcap makeup effects, actor James Scott, who plays EJ has opted for a more realistic approach. Seems Scott, who has played EJ since May of 2006, shaved his thick brown locks a few weeks back in order to look the part.
Speaking of EJ‘s shooting. Look for Sami to make a new ally this week when she turns to Dr. Daniel Jonas (Shawn Christian). Could DAYS writers be gearing up for yet another love triangle for Sami, this time between Sami, Daniel and Rafe (Galen Garing)? Daniel isn’t Sami‘s only new ally this week. In an effort to keep on good terms with Sami‘s son Will (Chandler Massey), grandma Kate (Lauren Koslow) strikes up a truce with her former daughter-in-law and longtime nemesis, Sami. Also this week, Stefano (Joseph Mascolo) is convinced that Nicole (Arianne Zuker) is responsible for EJ‘s shooting. Don’t be surprised if EJ wakes from his surgically-induced coma with a bit of amnesia. If that happens, it wouldn’t be out of the question for Nicole to dodge her own bullet by making EJ think they are still happily married.
Days of Our Lives Casting News
Salem‘s Hernandez clan is about to undergo some major changes. It has been confirmed that Lindsay Hartley, who has played Arianna Hernandez since August of last year is leaving DAYS. The latest word has Ari being killed off. On the subject of the Hernandez family, while Ari is history–for now-, look for little sis Gabi to grow up...literally. Actress Gabriella Rodriguez recently tweeted that she would be leaving DAYS and the role of Gabi Hernandez behind. While Arianna‘s fate is sealed, Gabi will be sticking around, but thanks to NBC’s casting Camila Banus in the role, she’ll be slightly older, perhaps opening up her character’s to storylines to involve the Brady, Chloe, Phillip set. Soap fans might recall Banus’ Lola Montez, the mother-killing,/cousin’s boyfriend stealing troublemaker from One Life To Live. Let’s hope DAYS has similarly sinister plans for their new Gabi.
Longtime DAYS viewers rejoice! Two fan favorites, Jennifer Horton Deveraux (Melissa Reeves) and Kayla Brady (Mary Beth Evans) are both headed back to Salem. Also, there’s no coincidence that Vivian‘s latest plot involves the deceased Isabella, or that a photo of Isabella and her dad Victor has been prominent in recent episodes. Look for Brady Black‘s mom, Isabella Toscano (Staci Greason) to return in ghost form on October 19 just in time to give her troubled son some much needed spiritual advice.
New characters are heading to Salem as well. With Hope (Kristian Alfonso) serving two years for her part in the recent Salem muggings, don’t think for a minute that Hope is out of the picture. To the contrary, Beginning this week, we’ll see Hope as she endures life in prison. While in prison, Hope will encounter Christopher Darga, who plays Prison Guard Lenny; Gina Gallego as Warden Jane Smith and Michelle Santopietro as Hope‘s cellmate, Tina. There’s also talk that All My Children‘s ex-Janet from another planet, Robin Mattson will play another of Hope‘s prison matrons beginning in October.
One final bit of casting news comes with the arrival of Jordan, a new Salem teenager. The role has yet to be cast, but rumors are already flying that Jordan will eventually be revealed to be Abby Deveraux, Jennifer and Jack‘s daughter. The last time we saw Abby, she was played by Ashley Benson, now starring on ABC Family’s breakout hit, Pretty Little Liars.
