On Aug. 30, D23 released information on a special event to take place during the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival at Walt Disney World Resort. D23’s Sip & Stroll event, for members and guests only, will be held Oct. 15 – 16, 2010. In addition to the opportunity to enjoy the festival, special events include a wine and cheese reception, celebration with retiring Disney archivist Dave Smith, a look at Mexico’s new La Hacienda restaurant, and presentations.
Highlights of the 2010 D23 Sip & Stroll at Epcot International Food & Wine Festival
- Private wine and cheese reception, The American Adventure pavilion
- Celebration Dinner for Dave Smith, VIP lounge of The Living Seas pavilion. Note: there is an extra cost to attend this dinner.
- Breakfast pastries and presentation, La Hacienda
- Presentations by Scott Hunnel, Israel Perez, Guerlain, and Givenchy, the Odyssey
- Sip & Stroll afternoon with members of the D23 Team, including Steven Clark, Dave Smith, Becky Cline, Carmen Capone and Jeffrey Epstein
- Private VIP seating at Howard Jones’s Eat to the Beat concert
- Private dessert party and viewing of IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth
- Access to the VIP lounge, The American Adventure pavilion

2010 Sip & Stroll events for Friday, Oct. 15
On Friday event, D23 guests will begin their Sip & Stroll weekend with a wine and cheese reception at The American Adventure pavilion. Artisan cheeses, dried fruts and breads will be compliment by wine, beer and non-alcoholic beverages as guests mingle and prepare for the weekend.
Afterward, guests have the opportunity to honor Disney Legend Dave Smith, the Chief Archivist for The Walt Disney Company. To celebrate Dave’s 40-year career and much-loved status, a celebratory dinner will be held at the VIP Lounge of The Living Seas with Nemo & Friends. The private space offers a view of the pavilion’s aquarium.(Note: There is an additional charge for this event.)
The dinner offers a lavish menu: crisp salads, grilled flatbreads, pecan-roasted turkey, fresh scallops and beef medallions. Sides include sweet potato mash, wild mushrooms and truffle mac ‘n’ cheese. Desserts are inspired by Disney movie classics. Drinks include Radeberger beer, wine, and non-alcoholic beverages.
2010 Sip & Stroll events for Saturday, Oct. 16
In the morning, D23 members gather at the Mexico pavilion, located in Epcot’s World Showcase. There, guests will be able to enjoy a breakfast of Mexican coffee and pastries at the re-opened La Hacienda restaurant. Ricky Deblar, president of the San Angel Inn, will appear to offer insights about La Hacienda.
Morning presentations, along with some special surprises, follow at the Odyssey. Guerlain and Givenchy will talk about their rich histories with Epcot — and Givenchy will offer a sample of their brand new fragrance. Disney Chefs Scott Hunnel and Israel Perez, Victoria and Albert’s restaurant in Disney’s Grand Floridian, will be on hand. In addition to dishing about the new Queen Victoria Room, they will prepare a new dish to be featured at Remy, a new restaurant that will be found on the Disney Dream
In the afternoon, guests will be able to start the Sip & Stroll part of the weekend. Guests are invited to join D23 head Steven Clark, Dave Smith, Archives Director Becky Cline, Disney twenty-three editor in chief Carmen Capone, D23’s Disney Geek Jeffrey Epstein and others from the D23 Team in touring the World Showcase. In addition tot the nibbles and drinking delights, each will have a “passport” that offers exclusive Sip & Stroll surprises.
To cap off the weekend, guests enjoy reserved seating to the Eat to the Beat concert at the American Gardens Theatre, with that night’s performance showcasing Howard Jones.The concert is followed by reserved, private viewing of IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth, Epcot’s nighttime spectacular, and a dessert party featuring strawberries with Creole Shrubb burst, milk chocolate hazelnut crunch, flambéed cinnamon doughnuts with tiramisu gelato, and other sweet treats.
2010 Sip & Stroll details and cost
Sip & Stroll is available only to D23 Members in good standing. Members may reserve a ticket for themselves and one (1) guest. Epcot theme-park admission is not included. Guests must be over 21 years old to consume alcoholic beverages. Cost for the D23 Sip & Stroll is $85 per person. Dave Smith’s Retirement Celebration Dinner costs $185 per person, and there area limited number of tickets available.
