Sunday is the last full day of Dragon*Con. You’ve been going non-stop for two days and nights already, and you’re likely to start feeling the effects of little to no sleep, eating fast food in the food court, and, ahem, boozing.
Thankfully, CON*tourage had the brilliant idea to throw a Pancake Chowdown on Sunday, September 5, of Dragon*Con. A plate full of sugar and carbs is just what your body needs after a long weekend of partying. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and Sunday is arguably the most important day of Dragon*Con, being that it is the last full day. You’ll need that energy to make sure you can go all day long and party one last night at Dragon*Con before Monday when the con ends and it is time to go home. (How sad!)
CON*tourage’s Pancake Chowdown will take place in the CON*tourage suite beginning at 11am and go until 1pm. The location of the chowdown will be announced after check-in, so make sure to follow CON*tourage on Twitter or stop by the Girls of Con fan table and ask them. All that is known right now is that the suite will be in Hyatt’s International Tower (no elevator wait!)
This breakfast will be just the thing to hit the spot after marathon partying on Saturday night. CON*tourage is throwing a Hero vs. Villain Party from 11pm until 2am, after which the party will move to the Secretroom Sci-Fi Dance Party (Dragon Dance) that takes place from 2am until 6am. That seven hours of partying and dancing; you’ll definitely need some carbs after that!
Please note that this is a social event and not fast food. These pancakes will be fresh and hot, and you simply cannot rush perfection. While the purpose of these event is to socialize, if you have a photoshoot or a panel to attend, feel free to grab your plate and go. They will have plain and chocolate chip pancakes, all-you-can-eat, but you must clean your plate before getting more. Yum!
The requested door donation for this event is $3. This will go towards paying for the food, drinks, plates, and other supplies. Unlike CON*tourage’s late night parties (Heavy Metal II and Hero vs. Villain), you do not need a party pass to enjoy the Pancake Chowdown. So be sure to tell your friends! (And don’t forget about that $3 donation.)
Also, while the event is scheduled from 11am until 1pm, it’s probably best to wait a little while before heading up to the suite. There will most likely be a long line of hungry people at 11, so getting there around 11:30, 12, or 12:30 might be wise. Plus, it gives you a little extra time to sleep! The CON*tourage folks assure that there will be plenty of delicious pancakes for everyone.
Public Service Announcement: If you aren’t staying in one of the convention hotels, please remember not to drink and drive. Labor Day is the second deadliest holiday of the year, with 487 fatalities in 2008, 40% of which were alcohol related. Stay safe and avoid being arrested for drunk driving by utilizing public transportation or taking a taxi.
