Registration for the 2011 Boston Marathon begins today. This upcoming marathon will be the 115th, which is sponsored by the Boston Athletic Association, will be held on Patriots Day, April 18, 2011.
For the 2011 event, it is expected that 38,00 participants will run the 26 mile race, which is regarded as of one of the five most prestigious marathons.
The marathon is open to the public, but participants must qualify for the event by running another marathon within a specific time, based upon age and gender. This marathon is one of the few that has the qualification requirement.
According to the Long Island Press, “Qualifying time brackets are normally available at www.bostonmarathon.org, but at the moment their entire site redirects to the registration page, so for now they can be seen at MarathonGuide.com.”
In 1 Corinthians 9, the Apostle Paul speaks of those who run a race for a wreath that is “perishable”, but the race Paul runs, the furtherance of the Gospel, has a reward that is imperishable.
