It’s a small little studio that you can easily pass on Merrick Road. But it’s a big mistake if you do. Fuel the Soul is a new studio owned by certified yoga instructor Greg Fine located at 188 Merrick Road. This studio is very different because if offers two programs not easily found on Long Island; Gyrotonics® and infared yoga.
Gyrotonics® is an exercise program using a tall carved wooden sculpture outfitted with cables and pulleys, called the pulley tower. You can stand, sit or lie down while using this tower, and with the help of the instructor, are guided through a series of flowing dance like movements while using the pulleys. Gyrotonics® is practiced by many dancers and athletes to help tone and strengthen muscles and the surrounding connective tissue. Greg leads his students through a series of movements, with a particular breathing pattern that strongly contract the abdominal muscles. This workout also gives you the best stretch of your life!
Fuel the Soul also has heated and non-heated yoga classes. Greg says that this is the first infrared heated exercise studio on Long Island. Infrared heat will penetrate your body and gently elevate the body’s surface temperature activating its metabolic function. Infrared is also credited to enhancing cardiovascular function, removes toxins and strengthens the immune system.
Fuel the Soul also offers non-heated adult and childrens yoga, mat pilates, IntenSati, has an infrared sauna, and massage therapy in swedish, deep tissue, prenatal, amma therapeutic and thai yoga.
Currently Fuel the Soul is running two promotions that should not be passed up; One week of unlimited group classes for $20. or one month of unlimited group classes for $99. Call 516-379-0810 or visit www.fuelthesoul.com for more information.
