Best places to eat out with the kids:
We don’t do “kids” restaurants (because there really aren’t any here!), as do most New York families…so below are “our” versions.
Landmarc (TriBeCa Location) – Beyond kid friendly with amazing healthy menu choices for the kids. And…the best skirt steak with chimmichurri that the kids love as well as mom and dad! Oh so important, also the BEST french fries we believe in the city.
Odeon – Another neighborhood spot for families with kids. The entire staff remembers the kids names and will make eggs anytime of the day if one of the kids wants breakfast for dinner. Also, in the summer they have an amazing ice cream stand out front as well as great outdoor seating.
Best places to play:
Battery Park – It’s free, it’s amazing and close to our house. Kids love the big slide and the grass to play soccer and games.
Playgarden – The ballet classes are amazing and it is a close alternative for a place to run around when it is cold. And…it is very clean!
Best places to shop for and with the kids:
Yoya Mart – The best cool sneaker collection for my budding sneaker collector like his dad! And best parkas! Also a cool collection of the best Japanese character toys.
Estella – Beautiful European pieces with a cool factor
Koh’s Kids(311 Greenwich St.) – Amazing priced Japanese kids clothing
Tricofield -Hands down the best t-shirts that are ubercool and last forever, price tag is a bit $$$ though.
Best place to get a haircut for the kids:
Doodle Doos (on Christopher St.) – If you need to go to a “kids” salon then this is the place to go. Dana, the owner, has the best selection of toys and gifts that are handpicked. Makes any kids cut bearable for mom, and the kids love it.
The Marie Robinson Salon – Ask for Tommy Buckett or Ryan Trygstad. Both are longtime friends and gave Shane his first Mohawk! No goofy kids cut here!
Any additional recommendations for moms in Tribeca?
Skateboard instructor: Alex 952-943-6910. He’s a cool guy from Colorado who is incredibly patient and got my son up and going on the first lesson!
Speech Therapist: Roseanne LeGrand – Anyone who knows her, knows there really is not need to describe her but Amazing. She is famous dow town as the best one around. Any parent who has gone through a tough road of helping their toddler with speech issues would be very fortunate to score a spot in her schedule. I cannot say enough about her. She travels to US to speak at conferences constantly and is well regarded in her Industry.
Swim Instructor: Deborah Lakeman – After many filed attempts at group swim lesions and our first born who was terrified to swim we found Deborah. UNBELIEVABLE is all I can say. She pushes the kids without them even morticing because they are too busy playing fun games with her.
Yoga Instructor: Leslie Harris – Because of her I was in a bikini 6 weeks after giving birth to my second child. Enough said.
