After a Belly Dancing class with Patricia Gallo, your life and body will be changed. The class is held at the Anahata Studio, 5445 Collins Ave., at the Castle Beach Club. Down the stairs and around the corner from the Russian Bath house, is a hidden gem.
Anahata yoga studio is filled with crystals, walls of mirrors and lots of good energy, yet doesn’t give a hint of the experience to be had in the Belly Dancing class. The session starts slow, with lots of stretching, Patty a classically trained dancer and yoga instructor wants to ensure the students are ready. Then the music changes, sashes are tied and the movement begins. It’s you, the mirror, the music and guidance from Patty on how to isolate and move your hips. Parts of the students bodies move that hadn’t in decades, including abdomen, pelvis, and spine, the screams, yelling and groans heard are an indication of such.
The class peaks with a “shimmy” that no “fat shaker” from the 1940’s could even compare to. Participants will leave the class feeling exhilarated, thinner,, sexier and a step closer to giving Sharkira run for her money.
